Collision Damage Warranty (CDW)The
CDW rental car and car share insurance offered by Bonzah covers up to
$35,000 for rental car or car share vehicle damage due to a collision with another vehicle. Renters or car share users will be reimbursed up to the maximum benefit, less a
$1,000 deductible for an accident with another vehicle.
- Primary car share and rental car collision coverage.
- Coverage is available in all U.S. states. Coverage NOT available for rentals or car shares originating in Pennsylvania. Coverage NOT available in Canada.
Coverage Limit:
- $35,000 in collision damage per accident.
- $1,000 deductible.
Usage Eligibility:- Eligible rental and car share vehicles: Private passenger vehicles that seat 8 people or fewer (vehicle exclusions apply).
- Eligible for peer-to-peer networks (Turo).
- Eligible for car share companies.
Not Covered:
- Vehicles used for rideshare (Uber, Lyft, etc.), delivery, courier services (UberEats, GrubHub, Postmates, etc.), and other “transportation networks”.
- Vehicle theft.
- Single-car accidents involving only the rental or car share vehicle.
- War, insurrection, confiscation or seizure, nuclear events, illegal acts, misrepresentation, intoxicated persons, intentional damage, wear and tear, or mechanical issues.
- Non-rental or car share vehicle damages due to liability by the renter or car share user.
- Medical expenses.
Requirements and rules:- Minimum age: 21.
- Valid for drivers with a domestic or international driver’s license or international driver’s permit (available in English).
- Coverage is based on 24-hour increments. Insurance begins at the rental or car share pickup time as specified in the rental car or car share agreement. If the rental or car share agreement doesn’t specify a start time, insurance starts at the scheduled pickup time for the reservation as designated on the rental car or car share agreement. In the absence of a rental or car share pickup time or start time, insurance begins at the purchase time.
For example, 3 days of coverage purchased for July 1 at 10 AM means coverage ends on July 4 at 10 AM. If the vehicle is returned after 10 AM on July 4, an additional day of coverage must be purchased.
- Does not cover 3rd party liability when a renter or car share user is at fault in an accident —this is covered by Renter’s Contingent Liability Coverage (RCLI) and Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI).
- All losses must be reported within 30 days of the date of loss.
Renter’s Contingent Liability Insurance (RCLI) – State Minimum Primary LiabilityBonzah offers the
Renter’s Contingent Liability Insurance (RCLI) policy, which provides primary liability coverage that meets the state minimum requirements for rental and car share vehicles across the United States (
coverage varies by state).
- Primary rental car liability insurance that covers state minimum requirements.
- Coverage is available in all U.S. states and rentals and car share extending into Canada, but not available for rentals or car share originating in Pennsylvania or Canada.

- Aggregate Coverage: $60,000
- Bodily Injury – Per Person: $30,000
- Bodily Injury – Aggregate: $60,000
- Property Damage: $15,000
- No deductible.

Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI)The
SLI policy offered by Bonzah must be purchased with
RCLI and provides additional coverage beyond the state minimum for
liability and
property damage:
- Secondary rental or car share vehicle liability insurance that provides excess coverage.
- Coverage is available in all U.S. states and rentals or car shares extending into Canada, but not available for rentals or car shares originating in Pennsylvania or Canada.
Coverage Limit:
- $500,000 in Supplemental Liability Insurance per accident in aggregate (not in addition to state minimum).
- $100,000 per person per accident.
- $10,000 in additional property damage (this is in addition to the state minimum property damage limit).
- No deductible.
Excess Coverage:
- SLI is in excess of any other applicable insurance, including personal auto insurance or corporate auto insurance designed to provide coverage for individual renters/drivers.

Personal Accident Insurance (PAI)The
PAI insurance offered by Bonzah covers up to
$50,000 for the
renter or car share user's loss of life,
$5,000 for
passenger loss of life, and
$1,000 for
accidental medical expenses. The policy also provides coverage of up to
$500 for
personal effects (see policy for limitations). A
$25 deductible will be applied for personal effects coverage.
